Downhill Skiing and Snowboarding Courses for PE credit.

Greek Peak Mountain Resort offers package deals for the beginner skier and boarder all the way to students with expert ability. You'll have fun while learning or improving . . . and get P.E. credit at the same time. The courses run for six (6) consecutive weeks on the same day/time, starting with the Thursday evening course on Jan. 28. Other course starting dates are: Fri. 1/29, Sat. 1/30, Sun. 1/31, Mon. 2/1 and Tues. 2/2 . It is important that your schedule permits attendance on this night throughout the season because you must attend five (5) of the six (6) classes offered to receive college credit.

BUS TRANSPORTATION IS AVAILABLE ONLY FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY AFTERNOON COURSES.

 

Course Registration

Students must register for the course with both Cornell University's Physical Education Department and Greek Peak. N.B. The lift tickets issued to course participants are limited to the 4 hr. period from 5:00 - 9:00 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and 2:00 - 6:00pm or 5:30 - 10:00 pm on Fridays & Saturdays.

 

Lesson Times and Meeting Place

First Time/Never Ever Lessons
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings - 5:30pm
Friday and Saturday - 2:30pm and 5:30pm
Sunday - 1:30pm and 7:00pm

Experienced Skiers and Riders Lessons
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday - 7:00pm
Friday and Saturday - 4:00pm and 7:00pm
Sunday - 4:00pm and 7:00pm.

All Lessons meet at the Lesson Meeting Spot located next to the Alpha Slope (Beginner's Chair Lift). Please be there ten (10) minutes before lesson time.

 

Course Payment

The Physical Education Ski and Snowboard Courses can be paid through the Cornell Bursar. The Season Pass Option (if desired) must be purchased separately by check, cash, or credit card.

 

Course Changes or Drops

The last day for course changes or drops is Wednesday, February 10, 2009. No refunds will be awarded after this date. A consideration will be given for medical conditions that prevent the enrollee from completing the course.

 

Student Responsibility

All students who sign up for this course are responsible for checking their University e-mail for messages. Communications like class cancellations will be posted here. Please check for your messages the day before and the day of your class.

 

Transportation

Swarthout Ferris Coach Lines pickups up on campus at two locations: West Campus near the Baker Flag Pole and on North Campus beside High Rise One. Please be on time. The transportation is only for students who have paid the bus fee at the time of course registration.

Bus Schedule
Friday & Saturday Afternoon Courses ONLY - West Campus Pickup at 1:00pm; North Campus Pickup at 1:15pm; Leave Greek Peak at 6:15pm.

 

Attendance

When you arrive at Greek Peak by bus, you will be met by a Greek Peak Representative in the Katalima Bldg., who will take attendance, and distribute your lift ticket and rental voucher (if needed). If you do not arrive by bus, you will pick-up your lift ticket and rental voucher (if needed) at the Ticket Window in the Katalima Bldg. Failure to sign-in with your instructor will result in your being absent from class which will affect your grade. You must attend five (5) of the six (6) classes offered to receive college credit.

 

Clothing

Be sure to dress warmly. Outer clothing should be windproof and snow shedding. It is better to over dress and shed additional layers than to lack the appropriate clothing.

 

Make-Up Policy & Lesson Schedule

Students are allowed one (1) missed lesson. Attendance of FIVE (5) lessons is REQUIRED to receive COLLEGE CREDIT. A lesson may be made up by attending any of the following Greek Peak College Credit Lessons:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
Never Evers - 5:30 pm
Intermediates/Advanced - 7:00 pm

Fridays and Saturdays
Never Evers - 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm
Intermediates/Advanced - 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm

Sundays
Never Evers - 1:30 pm and 7:00 pm
Intermediates/Advanced - 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm

* There is NO TRANSPORTATION provided for make up lessons.
** A Lesson may be made up in advance of missing a scheduled lesson.

 

Make Up Procedure

The following make up procedure must be used for all Make Up lessons:

  1. Contact the College Program Coordinator to inform him of your intention to make up a lesson. Give your name, college, student ID and the day and time of your scheduled missed lesson and the make up lesson that you plan to attend.
  2. Go to the Greek Peak ticket window, state your intent to perform a make up lesson and present your College ID. You will be given a Lift Ticket, Rental Pass (if needed) and a make up card.
  3. Fill out the make up card with name, college and college ID and go to the regular lesson meeting place.
  4. Have your instructor sign your make up card and return it to you.
  5. Enjoy your lesson and RETURN your MAKE UP CARD to the TICKET WINDOW before you leave Greek Peak.

 

Refund Policy

All rebates will be issued in the form of tickets for lifts or rentals for the dollar equivalent of the unused services less a $5.00 processing fee and a $20 course fee. All requests for refunds must be made by March 1, 2010 in writing to:
