Spring 2009 PE Skiing and Snowboarding

 

Course Description

This course will allow for instruction of all levels of downhill skiing and snowboarding. This class will meet for 6 consecutive Sundays starting January 24 at Greek Peak Mountain Resort. Each session includes a one hour lesson with practice time available before and after each lesson.

 

Course Registration (Mandatory)

Students must register for the course with both the Syracuse University Exercise Science Dept. and Greek Peak. Click here to register with Greek Peak. Click here to download Registration Instructions) Registration and course payment may be done online by credit card.

Greek Peak's College Rep. will also be on campus at the Schine Student Center on Wed., Jan.20 from 11-3 pm for registration and course payment. Bring your student ID and check or credit card.

 

Ski/Snowboard Fees

Program & Bus - $338
Program, Bus & Rental - $414

N.B. The lift tickets issued to course participants are limited to the 4 hr. period from 1:00 - 5:00 pm on Sundays.

 

Transportation

The course starts Sun.,Jan.24 with the Bus departing Main Campus (College Pl. near Public Safety) at 12:00pm and South Campus (Goldstein Student Center) @ 12:15pm and returning to SU approx. 6:15pm.

 

Course Changes or Drops

No refunds will be awarded after the Syracuse University official Add /Drop Period is over. Bus transportation fee can not ne refunded.

 

Clothing

Be sure to dress warm. It is easier to over dress and remove clothing than lack appropriate clothing. Wind and water resistant materials work best. Avoid cotton.

 

Attendance

When you arrive at Greek Peak, attendance will be taken. Failure to sign in will result in you being marked absent from your lesson. You must attend 5 of the 6 classes offerd to receive PED credit.

 

Lessons

When you arrive at Greek Peak, you will be met by a college representative in the Katalima who will take attendance and give out lift tickets and a rental vouchers if needed. If you do not ride the bus, you will pick up your lift ticket and rental voucher (if needed) at the Ticket Booth. The lesson times are as follows:

First Time/Never Ever Lessons
1:30 pm at the Lesson Meeting Spot, located next to the Alpha Slope (beginners' chair). Please be there by 1:20 pm.

Experienced Skiers/Riders Lessons
4:00 pm at the Lesson Meeting Spot, located next to the Alpha Slope (beginners' chair). Please be there by 3:50 pm.

 

Make-Up Policy & Lesson Schedule

Students are allowed one (1) missed lesson. Attendance of FIVE (5) lessons is REQUIRED to receive COLLEGE CREDIT. A lesson may be made up by attending any of the following Greek Peak College Credit Lessons:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
Never Evers - 5:30 pm
Intermediates/Advanced - 7:00 pm

Friday and Saturday
Never Evers - 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm
Intermediates/Advanced - 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm

Sunday
Never Evers - 1:30 pm and 7:00 pm
Intermediates/Advanced - 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm

* There is NO TRANSPORTATION provided for make up lessons.
** A Lesson may be made up in advance of missing a scheduled lesson.

 

Make Up Procedure

The following make up procedure must be used for all Make Up lessons:

  1. Contact the College Program Coordinator to inform him of your intention to make up a lesson. Give your name, college, student ID and the day and time of your scheduled missed lesson and the make up lesson that you plan to attend.
  2. Go to the Greek Peak ticket window, state your intent to perform a make up lesson and present your College ID. You will be given a Lift Ticket, Rental Pass (if needed) and a make up card.
  3. Fill out the make up card with name, college and college ID and go to the regular lesson meeting place.
  4. Have your instructor sign your make up card and return it to you.
  5. Enjoy your lesson and RETURN your MAKE UP CARD to the TICKET WINDOW before you leave Greek Peak.

 

Refund Policy

All rebates will be issued in the form of tickets for lifts or rentals for the dollar equivalent of the unused services less a $5.00 processing fee. All requests for refunds must be made by March 1, 2010 in writing to:
