To our Greek Peak Families

March 3, 2020

Warm Greetings
to our Greek Peak Families—

March 3, 2020

Greek Peak and Toggenburg are mountains of memories for us.  At the core of the experience is the special community and culture that we have at this place.  That being said,  for a number of reasons, the 2019-2020 ski season has been particularly phenomenal and memorable.  We had our earliest Opening Day in history on November 15th. Training and up-skilling of staff, and implementing a new snowmaking plan is truly a remarkable orchestration of backstage logistics. Every time I work the night shift with our mountain team, I am reminded of my gratitude for their effort on challenging terrain and in  harsh conditions.  On day 99 of season we could not be more proud of our staff and more thankful for our loyal customers.  The results are clear. Greek Peak was among the Top 5 of over 60 New York ski areas to open first for the 2019-20 season, fast-tracking Greek Peak for a projected 125 ski days this season.   Since November,  we’ve been able to quickly address the challenges from mother nature.  The temperature variability requires that we operate differently.  The “one and done” days of snowmaking are in the past.  We seek out optimal temperature windows and make snow multiple times throughout the year even into the end of February.  Of course, building optimal skier conditions comes with a price, we deploy our crews more often, more quickly and for extended periods of the season.  Our new energy efficient, automated snowmaking capabilities are capital investments but they help mitigate labor costs as well as on mountain injuries.
As I write, we have 56 trails, 3 terrain parks, 6 lifts, as well as an extensive 24 Km of Nordic terrain open for our guests to create fun family memories. Our Winter Zipline offered at the Adventure Center was featured in the January/February 2020 edition Martha Stewart Living magazine providing our property with national recognition.

My wife Christine and I are excited to announce our sole ownership of Greek Peak Mountain Resort and Toggenburg Mountain by acquiring our former business partner’s 50 percent interest in both mountains.  As passionate snowsports enthusiasts, becoming 100 percent equity owners of Greek Peak brings a unifying vision and clear direction to the property.  We are lifetime skiers, and customers of Greek Peak and Toggenburg for more than 30 years and our two daughters and  son have been skiers most of their lives. Snowsports are a way of life for us and we live this brand.

We believe in investing in the mountain – snowmaking and grooming equipment, pump houses, lifts, trails and all of the associated infrastructure, both above and below ground – that’s what separates us from every other ski area in the region.
And, the 2019-20 season is proof of that. We aim to create the best conditions for our skiers and boarders; invest in more trails and more skiable acres, deliver better experiences for our customers, and most importantly, prioritize safety for our families. This is what differentiates us from other mountains and provides the value of our lift ticket and season pass.  We are excited to announce that we recently purchased 50 HKD Ranger Snowguns for upcoming 2020-21 season.

We are a Family Business…

Each winter, we welcome generations of returning families to enjoy more than 220 skiable acres with six ski lifts, 56 trails, night and cross-country skiing, plus ziplining, snow tubing, mountain coaster rides and an indoor waterpark & spa at our 151 keyed room Hope Lake Lodge. Thousands of college, high school, middle school and elementary school students have learned and grown through our deeply discounted after school snowsports and race programs, an activity that studies now attribute to increased academic performance, self-esteem and overall physical health.

We’re Here to Stay…

We are genuinely committed to the future of Greek Peak Mountain Resort.
“Having raised our children as skiers at Greek Peak from the time they were toddlers, Greek Peak has been a lifestyle for us—getting fresh air in the winter, participating in outdoor activities year-round—unplugging and spending quality time together has been the best thing that we could have done for our family, and we’ve had a blast while doing it! We were customers long before we were owners, so we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to guide the future of Greek Peak.”

Let’s Continue Making Memories Together.

“As lifelong skier, I always have the voice of the customer in my head.  The best conversations happen on a chairlift.  Whether I am in the lodge with my friends, in the water park with my young son, on the mountain skiing with my younger daughter, ziplining with my oldest daughter, or enjoying the restaurants with Christine, we are engaging with—and among—our skiers, customers and guests. That keeps us in touch and connected with both our guests and Greek Peak”

“We are committed to Greek Peak and hope you will too by joining the 2020-21 season pass program or by renewing your current season pass.  Let’s continue making a mountain of memories.”
