COVID-19/Operational Update for Greek Peak/Hope Lake Lodge—

Beginning today Central New York will begin the reopening process.  There are four phases to this process.  Phase One begins today.  The reopening of Hope Lake Lodge for our destination guests will come in Phase Three.  Recreation/Attractions will begin to reopen in Phase Four.  We will annoucne reopening dates when we have them.  One new feature we have approval to open is the Greek Peak Outdoor Cinema.  Every Friday and Saturday, beginning May 15th, we will show a feature movie on a 28’x16′ screen at our Outdoor Adventure Center.  It’s only $20 per car which includes a $5 credit at the concession stand.

During the down time our staff, dubbed, “The Clean Team”,  has worked hard  deep cleaning guestrooms, public space, Cascades Indoor Waterpark, Waterfalls Spa, and restaurants in Hope Lake Lodge.  The deep cleaning protocol extends to The Outdoor Adventure Center attractions such as the mountain coaster, zip line tours, mountain biking and the ropes course.  These attractions are pending NY State approval to reopen. Rest assured that when the time is right we will be ready to welcome you and your family members back to the fun adventure at Greek Peak Mountain Resort and Hope Lake Lodge. 

The first thing you will notice is that our friendly staff are now wearing face masks and sanitizing/washing their hands on a frequent basis.  Rest assured our staff are smiling from ear to ear under their masks.  You may notice the twinkle in their eyes as they are all happy to welcome you back to your home away from home. 

New protocol in place will be having guests sign in and out at each attraction and the hotel as well as our hotel guest will stop at the Health Monitoring Station just inside the lobby, upon arriveal, to have their temperature taken and complete a short health survey.  Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 will be asked to step outside briefly and return for a second temperature check.  If their temperature is still 100.4 or higher we will ask the guest to visit the local healthcare clinic and reschedule their visit when they have clearance from their physician that they are no longer ill.   Our staff will return when they have been cleared by their doctor. 

When you arrive at the Front Desk you will notice plexiglass dividers that are there as added protection.  The pen you use to sign your registration card will be discarded after one use and will be sanitized before being used again.  We are working on touchless check-in options for the future.  Your room key  has been sanitized before being given to you.  At the end of your stay just drop it in the box at the front desk and be on your way. We will email your final bill to you.

We do require guests to wear face mask when social distancing of at least 6′ is not possible.  The maximum capacity for guests not travelling together is two people per elevator.  For those who are traveling together (same vehicle/same guest rooms) the standard elevator capacity is to be adhered to.  We are all in this together so it is important to understand that sanitation is an important role for all of us.   We have added staff to ensure that the public space is cleaned and sanitized throughout the day and night.   We have eliminated stay over service during your visit.  This means that the housekeepers will not enter you room daily to change bed linen, towels, trash or the typical in room service.  This will be done after check-out.  Rest assured if you need clean linens, towels or trash removed during your staff it will be taken care of just in a different manner as you are used to.  A call to our Front Desk with your request will be responded to quickly by our staff who will deliver the item to your door and knock so you will know it has arrived.  For example, if you require clean bed linen just place the dirty linens in the laundry basket you will find in your closet outside your door and place a call to the Front Desk requesting clean linens.  When the clean linens are dropped off the dirty linens will be taken away.   Your laundry basket will be return after it has been cleaned and sanitized.  For your peace of mind additional cleaning supplies will be in your room to use as you feel necessary.

We are receiving multiple daily directives for how businesses should operate at this time. These are challenging times for everyone. We miss seeing all of the smiles and hearing kids laugh and talk about their best run of the day.

The latest NY State work mandate that went into effect Sunday Evening stipulates that 100% of non-essential employees must work from home. This is a new reality—an important one—that aims to  get us through this pandemic as soon as possible. In accordance with the governor’s directive, Trax2Go and the Greek Peak Community Grocery, within the lobby of Hope Lake Lodge, can remain open at this time as it is a temporary grocery store and delivery/take-out food establishment. We are operating with minimal staff and controlled guest access in the grocery area.

The Welcome Center at Greek Peak is now CLOSED for the season. Leaving gear in your locker is done so at your own risk. Access to Guest Services and rental lockers will resume once New York’s “100 percent non-essential work from home” ban has been lifted.

In another cruel twist, Mother Nature is in the process of dropping fresh snow today and tomorrow. As fun as this sounds, we must remind our Greek Peak family that ALL trails at Greek Peak are CLOSED.

Hike & Ski (skinning) is NOT permitted. Being on the trails at this time is considered trespassing. It is in your best interest not to be on the mountain. If you were to get hurt and needed to be rescued there is no one from Ski Patrol here, which means you would be taking local First Responders away from community emergencies, to respond to a situation that should have never happened in the first place. We understand how much you love Greek Peak but now is not the time to put yourself and others at risk.

In addition, all Greek Peak attractions and lodge amenities are CLOSED including the mountain coaster, snow tubing, zip line tours, the day spa, arcade and Cascades Indoor Waterpark.
We are no longer accepting hotel reservations between now and May 1st. We will continue to monitor when attractions will reopen.

The Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic has resulted in all of our seasonal and most of our full time employees being laid off. Your health and safety are always top of mind when you stay at Greek Peak Mountain Resort & Hope Lake Lodge.  The current news continues to be dominated by COVID-19 (Coronavirus). As of this email, there are no current cases of COVID-19 in Cortland County. 

That being said, I wanted to personally reach out to let you know that we have implemented a series of enhanced cleaning protocols and processes for all of our guests rooms and common areas at both Hope Lake Lodge and Greek Peak Mountain Resort.

We are also closely monitoring the guidance recommendations of the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as Cortland County Department of Health and New York State health regulators with regard to the spread and containment of the virus. Our primary goal is to ensure that we continue to meet our guests needs while doing our part to keep you—our guests—our team, and our communities safe.

Here’s what we’re doing:

  •  We have increased our already stringent cleaning protocols for all public spaces including: restrooms, the waterpark, spa, fitness center, guest rooms and restaurants. We are paying special attention to high touch-point areas including: room keys, elevator doors and buttons, door handles, locks and latches, light switches, desk surfaces, telephones, television remote controls, and bathroom fixtures.
  • Additionally, we are taking steps to ensure the health and welfare of our team. If a staff member is not feeling well or an immediate family member is ill, we are insisting they stay home to avoid possible transmission.
  • We are diligently reminding both guests and staff to wash their hands properly and frequently. We also ask that they use hand sanitizer whenever possible.
  • All employees have been directed to frequently wipe down and sanitize their workspaces.
  • Importantly, if they have flu-like symptoms, they are advised to consult a doctor and seek medical attention.

We understand your plans may be interrupted by COVID-19. You are a valued customer and we appreciate your business.
